The purpose of the mentoring program is to help our students to build positive relationships with adult role models. Students participating in the mentoring program activities will build their social skills and build their self esteem by giving back to the community.
During the mentoring sessions, students and mentors work on various arts and crafts projects, including pottery and woodworking. Students and mentors volunteer together in the community or participate in community outings. Activities are tailored to meet the needs and interests of the student.
We are looking for mentors from a variety of backgrounds who are interested in building relationships with students who have cognitive and emotional impairments to help them meet their potential. If you would be interested in joining us, please call Rich Greene, Mentoring Coordinator at (312) 243-6097 or fill out a volunteer application.
